Hugh Jackman launches Coffee Company on his birthday

Coffee and Charity go together: Hugh Jackman celebrates his birthday with launch of charitable coffee company.

Hugh Jackman launched his charity-supporting coffee company, Laughing Man Coffee & Tea, at ABC Kitchen in New York. The 43-year-old star of both film and theater marked his birthday yesterday (12.10.2011) with the launch of his new coffee business that uses 100 percent of profits to benefit those in need around the world. Laughing Man sells coffee, tea and chocolates and profits will support organizations including Harlem Village Academies.

“We have a motto at Laughing Man, and that is ‘All be happy. It actually emanates from an ancient Sanskrit prayer which wishes for everybody to be happy, to be free of disease and for none to suffer misery of any kind, and that is at the heart of our company.”-birthday boy Hugh Jackman said about his coffee company.

Laughing Man is actually an organization the actor became involved with after meeting a coffee farmer in Ethiopia. In terms of charity, the company plans to first focus on education, believing that it is “the essential foundation for ensuring a peaceful, healthy and prosperous worldwide community.

“With Laughing Man coffee, we want to make money and give it away so we can be a well of support for those who need it. I don’t know about you, but when I have a great cup of coffee, it certainly makes me happier. Not only the product makes you happy, but inside makes you happy to know that every sip of coffee tea or hot chocolate, you are effectively giving back.”-Hugh Jackman said.

What to say but Happy Birthday Hugh, and good luck with your company Laughing Man Coffee & Tea.

After obtaining his BA, Jackman completed the one-year course “The Journey” at the Actors’ Centre in Sydney. But the idea at my school was that drama and music were to round out the man. I got over that. I found the courage to stand up and say, ‘I want to do it’.” After completing “The Journey”, he was offered a role on the popular soap opera Neighbours but turned it down to attend the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts of Edith Cowan University in Perth, Western Australia, from which he graduated in 1994. The performance earned him an Olivier Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical. Jackman said,” I totally felt like it can’t get any better than this. On some level that production will be one of the highlights of my career.” He also starred in the 1999 film version of the same stage musical, which has been screened in many countries.
