Gerard Butler Talks About New Film “Machine Gun Preacher” With Los Angeles Confidential

Gerard Butler Talks About New Film “Machine Gun Preacher” With Los Angeles Confidential in their October 2011 issue. Butler is a very sexy actor who has done several hit films and will continue to produce many more hit films. His new flick “Machine Gun Preacher” is based on a true story about a man named Sam Childers, a former drug dealing criminal who makes an unexpected change in his life. He becomes the savior of thousands of kidnapped and orphaned children.

The story takes place in East Africa and Childers begins repairing homes that were destroyed by the civil war. Completely in disgusted with the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) and how they force young boys to become ruthless soldiers he decides to build an orphanage and take it one step further. Childers leads a armed missions into the enemy territory where he rescued children. This movie is powerful and simply amazing!

Butler was asked why he chose to work on this film. His response, “I think what made me want to walk around in his shoes was just the man himself. What he’s achieved is so mind-blowing, so unbelievable – this person who just kind of takes on the world, decides to go into Sudan and build an orphanage in the middle of the civil war. He’s definitely not a Mr. Goody Two-Shoes, squeaky-clean hero, so it just felt like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

Butler also gave some insight on how life as a celebrity can be at times. “It’s almost like being successful makes certain people feel like they have the right to be completely invasive and aggressive in your life. That’s what really bothers me. I can’t often go to Starbucks without literally having five different cameras pointing at me. You smile and wave, but really you think, I don’t even want to do this anymore. I just want to go….At the end of the day, I love making movies.”

Butler is currently single at the moment but Alec Baldwin and his Yoga Instructor Girlfriend are making big plans for their future.
